I am frequent listener to BBC Radio 5Live on various internet sites and apps, usually Tunein Radio or BBC iplayer radio. Sometimes, usually for sports, the program is "unavailable due to rights restrictions", but for the last 2 days it has been like this for all programs. Radio 4 and the World Service are operating normally.

 

Any idea why?

Radio 4 has had that super-annoying sound loop "due to rights restrictions this programming is unavailable" for ages, certainly it's often invoked during the Today programmes sports report. When I remember to turn it on I listen via a VPN so that stops it; but it's been a feature generally for some time now if you're listening from outside the UK.

Just the Winter Olympics that they only have the licence to broadcast through the UK. Sure VPN might work, but the W.O.  will be over soon. The same message is transmitted when they broadcast football.
