PHUKET: Motorists are expected to have more space on either side of the Chalong Underpass in the coming two months after Phuket Governor Norraphat Plodthong yesterday ordered that steps be taken to reduce the long traffic jams at the busy intersection construction site.

Governor Norraphat gave the order for more to be done to alleviate traffic jams at a meeting at Provincial Hall yesterday (Feb 19).

In response, project engineer Somkiet Yimpong explained to The Phuket News today (Feb 20), “There will be about 30 metres more space on the roads for people to drive on in about two months. Then traffic will be able to flow while the construction is completed step by step.

All getting too much for one resident.   This from near Chalong Circle today........

No planning, no consideration for locals and local expats. More space in 2 months' time, great ! Just in time for the low season with massively decreased users on this road. Many businesses along this road have gone under already, incl long established food shops, repair shops, 7-11 etc.

Junior in the video above looks to be on some Burmese marching powder known as yaba.

Not quite sure what 30 more metres of extra road will actually help.  As it is there are too many cars hitting the intersection at the same time.

Would be nice if that was correct, but unfortunately it's not.

Well if they were able to build it in a real time frame instead of this drawn out shambles the traffic would flow as is the intention.

The problem is the chinese tour buses. In 2 months there will be less.

The pier has become 1000 times more productive in this season than last. I heard something about rasada. Moved to chalong.

"Governor Norraphat gave the order" - what's the difference between "ordering" and "urging" and I wonder how the Gov decides which issues need "ordering" and which issues nee "urging."

This Gov is a serial "urger" so it must be quite a step for him to give an "order."

I suppose he will now "urge" them to follow the "order."  :cheesy:
