Dtac Streaming video

Featured Replies

Iv been with Dtac for a long while, and i get a good deal 16gb +300mins for 600 baht. I dont really use 4g alot as Im always connected to Wifi however when I go out and do try and stream video on 4G it just buffers constantly. Weird thing is the same streaming app on same phone streams fine if I change to 3G but as its 3G i cannot stream the 720 version only 480. Ironically Youtube streams fine.

This is not a one off I complained to Dtac last year and of course all seemed sympathetic -  whats the app called, what area you in blah blah blah and then of course I heard nothing back.

Anybody else have Dtac video streaming issues. Or second question is what is AIS/True like for streaming video content and what speed generally ?

Can you share any details? What is the phone make/model? What sorts of things are you streaming? From where? What is your default streaming app? More often than not, buffering is an issue with the source/app/HW, but who knows without more information.

I have all three providers, on multiple phones, including this same DTAC post-paid plan. I have never experienced any issues streaming video over mobile data with DTAC.

You can always try an AIS and/or TrueMove H SIM (50 baht for the SIM, maybe 50 baht for a one day plan) to see if those work acceptably. Then, if they do, just port your DTAC number over.

I am using IPTV from an Indian provider, the app is IPTV app which when you select a stream it opens VLC and uses that to actually stream the content, i am streaming mainly Sky Sports - they have various different quality streams which you can pick  720, 576 and 480.. none of them will stream on 4G but the 480 version will stream on 3G. I am  using a Ulephone Power 3 phone with speed tests around 20-25mb mark on 4G.

if you have all 3 I know it probably changes from area to area but in your opinion which one gives best overall average speeds. Can you stream HD streams?

Yes.

I'd try:

a different source

a different default streaming app

a different phone (borrow)

a different provider

a different location

all in an effort to isolate the problem

Ok..

A different source - Youtube is bad also

A different default streaming app - MX player has similar issues

A different provider - Will try that.

A different location - Will try that also

Is it not strange that it will stream on 3G but not 4G wouldnt that draw you towards Dtac 4G network or do streaming sites/apps have issues streaming 4G?

Try a different phone.

Again I have no issues streaming over DTAC 4G/LTE.
