Nice try.  Your ass-inane reply overlooks the headline which says "German tourist".

German tourists don't represent a race...unless it involves sun loungers.

Xenophobia or jingoism is the appropriate term, not racism.

And I don't think the poster was guilty of this either.

that's a strange one. why would you even do that. send him to a hospital to check his head

Maybe he'd run out of money and thought he would at least eat for free, and have a roof over his head?

Yes. Accuses everyone of racism when they don't like him.

Maybe he's Norwegian.  Very high rates of depression and anxiety.  Certainly seems very wound up and needs to develop a sense of humour.

What's wrong with Norwegians?  If it is your "sense of humour", no thanks. Not funny at all!

Have to agree with this....these people who make these types of comments and then claim it is a common "humour" are masking a deeper social dysfunctionality.  Not everyone shares the same "joke" and such misunderstandings can quickly escalate.

Just like Herr Walter's 'boom' comment?

He was probably speaking to his new Thai girlfriend (Boom) and was cut off before he had finished the sentence:
"Boom .."
The shriek from a nearby nervous female tourist prevented the rest of his sentence from being heard. ..
"..do you want me to put that bag in the overhead locker ?"

sounds like an over the top reaction to a stupid joke. Did he send an hoax email, letter or actually say there's a bomb on board ? did someone actually ask him what he meant by the gesture ? just an over excited old man.

Are you real!!!!!!!

What if it had been true?  Would you have thought it a 'stupid joke'.

I bet all the other passengers were very angry; with several hours lost, the inconvenience and all that.

I have a feeling he'll probably get away with it, without any jail sentence (possibly due to the age factor). Just a guess.

Possibly no prison sentence, and to be honest, why should he go to prison? He’s not a criminal by any stretch of the imagination.

But he certainly will not “get away wit it”. Even if the fine isn’t too high, the airline and the airport will bill him for every cent they’ve lost, plus interest, you can bet on that. This is going to be one very expensive joke....

If they'd asked him his name, and he answered:

   Kloster, Frick

then he'd be living up (or down) to his name.

If they'd asked him his occupation, and he was a Malaysian Fire Fighter...

he'd have some claim to innocence
