THB/USD rate in Pattaya? And where is the trend going?

Featured Replies

What can a dollar get me these days in baht in Pattaya? And where will the THB/USD exchange rate be going in the near future?

The average exchange rate currently is 30.78, give or take 4% - https://daytodaydata.net/

USD is very weak right now, mostly because of political dysfunction in the US but also because of comparison to other countries such as Europe which are even weaker.

As for where the rate is going - USD should be around 100 but it's currently at 89 so it's well below the norm and until something happens on the US side of the equation, that's where it's going to stay. - https://www.investing.com/quotes/us-dollar-index-streaming-chart

The USDTHB exchange rate has nothing to do with Pattaya but applies to Thailand overall. This topic should be addressed in the appropriate TV forum. Yesterday, I did an ATM withdrawal and my exchange rate was 31.42.

To answer his question: one USD can get you some snacks at 7-11.  Exchange your greenback for some baht and go crazy!

Not 100% true. If you have foreign cash that you want to convert in baht, you will find the rate is slightly different in Pattaya and Bangkok by example. You can check Yenjit online :

That's interesting I guess the rate difference reflects the distance from Bangkok and the cost of shipping money backwards and forwards, just like petrol prices. I suspect all branches of a particular bank will offer the same rate across the country however.

As the question has been answered can I please ask about the AUD?

Would have been faster to click on a link I gave above than asking

I read 24.19 baht for AUD at Yenjit Pattaya  (Yesterday night rate, unsure if updated Sunday)

I thought your link would be about USD, but thank you for the info. Have a great day.

look for " ttexchange " on FB. They have the most exchange-booths in PTY and offer good rates. Don't fall for the " TG exchange" copycat which is a rip off. They try to make their booth look exactly like TT and are usually located just a few Meters away from a reputable TT booth

I give you the same answer I gave my cousin who keeps Lining me the U.S. dollar is weaker.  I said if you got to constantly ask about the baht strength then you shouldn't be coming you will just make yourself and everyone around you miserable.

Most people who worry about the exchange rate lose more worrying about it than if they had just gone ahead and exchanged the money at whatever rate is decent and got on with their lives, the difference between one baht or seventy-five satang or so on most average transactions is really neither here nor there.

You omitted the most important part of my post. Like many people I did an ATM withdrawal and it wouldn't make any difference if I was in Pattaya, Bangkok or Egypt. And by the way,  my exchange rate was better than yenjit Bangkok, yenjit Phuket, yenjit CM, or Super Rich IF that is important to anyone.

That may happen, but many discussions on Internet show that the Visa fee is usually higher than the fee at Superrich or Yenjit (so Visa rate less good). Also don't forget that at ATM you have a withdrawal fee (about 200 baht?) that can add 1-2% on your rate. And most bank also add their own fee on top of that. In Thailand, cash is king

Agreed. But remember we are talking USD and that means Americans who have banking options unlike the let's say the Brits who get screwed by their banking institutions. Americans have no fee options, for example, my Schwab ATM charges no fees and reimburses the Thai bank fee of 220 baht. There are other options available too but many are too stupid or lazy and pay big bank fees of 3-5%.  That's there problem not mine.
