The beautiful & varied scenery of the western US; which we are going to travel, leaving in about a week & RV'ing until May.....

About 7 states + the obligatory family 3 day stop & go....

Other than that, not very much....

Jimbo seriously? Lack of your food here?

What kind of food are you looking for?

I see all the crap you get in uk here. If that is where you are from?

Maybe not so much pies but pretty much everything else is here.

So from that list you hardly miss anything from "your" home. Lol and just quietly 80% if your list is quite readily available in Thailand. If I missed it that much I would just go down Makro and buy it.

I think you missed the subtle humour in @ chickenslegs ' post.

Food centric much?

There's a million other things to do about life to be centered around food (my thoughts)....

What do i miss from home? Absolutely nothing,

Almost any western food i want, i can get.

rc2702 mentioned pies, well around Khonkaen there are several places making / selling pies, spoilt for choice.

Missing food?

You can pretty much everything here. Maybe slightly more expensive, but I have never not found the stuff I want from home.

1. Peace and quiet and sleeping in
2. Being able to go out without everybody staring at me like I have 2 heads
3. Not having a near death experience every time I nip out to the local 7-11
4. Orderly queues
5. Amazing music festivals. Issan country music concerts just aren't the same.

This is my home now.

So I miss nothing.

The only things I seriously miss are car and motorcycle drivers with common sense. Other than that, I'm cool.

I been away from 'home' now for over 30 years...and when I mention to folks 'at home' that I miss this and that they say: 'yer dreamin', tutsi...there ain't nothin' like that around here anymore...'

so that after a while, ye can't really 'go home' as it ain't there no more...

Yes but Japan is a long way away.

Clean streets, level pavements without potholes, being able to take a walk without soi dogs attacking you, nicely maintained buildings in towns.

Snow skiing.

Can you cook?

I eat Thai food 90% of the time then make the occasional Western-style meal, anything from an omelette to the occasional casserole. A local stall has fresh tomatoes often enough, even potatoes! But I need to travel great distances to find real olive oil and pasta. But it doesn't matter that much. I'm much healthier now which is better.

Seeing this sort of news from Australia seriously pisses me off:

"Supermarket demands for unblemished fruit has led to a high level of waste in the tomato industry, .."

The tomatoes I buy are visually imperfect but are fresh and taste better than most supermarket produce anywhere.
