The parcel would contain as well 50000THB in cash. Now the parcel would stuck at the Thai customs... As she didn't react on this bullsh*t she got a call from a Thai girl "working" for an agency that now takes care on her case. Her advice: Send 20000THB to the bank account of the "agency" in BKK to pay for the import fees. All was confirmed with an airbill of the "sender's" company in UK, sent from his branch in Poland.(!) She showed me all this nonsense AFTER she sent the money and did not receive anything. OH WONDER! WHY HER GIFTS DID NOT ARRIVE? I then pointed out his language and choice of words which marked him out as probably a Nigerian. He was setting her up nicely. Tourist Police, not Tourist Assistants, helpers etc... The Tourist Police are there to specifically 'Police' Tourist's... and deal with crimes committed by and against Tourist. These same misguided assumptions are often voiced by those who assume Embassies are there to help and magically extricate those from the legal predicaments some place themselves in. Back on Topic - advising those susceptible to these scams of the risks they face can only be a good thing. No one is deserving of these scams. But the ones I have read surprices me very much, many of them that is, It is well known that "dark skinned" gentlemen from Africa scam other people all over the world. The thais are having a way to sometimes say out laud what they mean.... So all these posts showing that you do not undrstand... relax it is not Joe from Birmingham or Peter from germany or Mr Smith from Arkansas they mean.....
