Taxi Tatler: New cab panic buttons are game changers putting riders in touch with police

Bangkok is rife with tales of taxi drivers that drive passengers crazy rather than safely to their destinations.

 

Everyone has a story about a taxi driver from hell. Whether they are molesting, raping, or threatening riders; masturbating, overcharging, or refusing passengers; being salty, racist, or enforcing weird rules in their cabs — their antics are a perennial hot topic of conversation.

Taxi companies and their governing bodies must have realized this because, as of now, approximately 2,000 — of a total 80,000 cabs operating in Bangkok — have been equipped with panic buttons in the back seats so passengers can report dastardly drivers as soon as they start acting up.

I've never had a problem with taxi drivers.

Perhaps I should change my appearance?

 

How about the remaining 78000 then ?    Make it law to fit them and disqualify any Taxi Company for not fitting them by a given date, get real and end all the disgusting practices in one massive clean up.

So you press the button when you are in panic and then what?

Bet a large percentage will mysteriously become disabled

I bet there will be more than long waits! There will be someone that gets in the Taxi, gets close to their destination, push the button, when the Taxi stops, if they do? The person or persons will walk off too their destination.

Now if they adapted that button to the eject the taxi driver...............

Oh, so now innocent people will get ripped twice. Not much of a game changer. Much of the same thing im guessing.

Does this involve police answering a call?

 

Good luck waiting on that one if so.

 

Why not just fit these
