The Anti-Corruption Organization of Thailand on Monday submitted an open letter to the chairman of the National Anti-Corruption Commission (NACC) chairman Pol Gen Watcharapol Prasarnrajkit asking for a progress report about the investigation into two controversial cases concerning Deputy Prime Minister Prawit Wongsuwan and former national police chief, Pol Gen Somyot Poompunmuang.

AOT chairman Pramont Sutheewong said that members of the public had paid great interest in General Prawit’s diamond ring and 25 pricey wristwatches and Pol Gen Somyot’s borrowing of 300 million baht from a massage parlour tycoon while he was the national police chief.

Because of the importance of the two men and their high office held by them, Mr Pramont said it was necessary for the NACC to keep informed the public about the progress of its probe in order to pre-empt rumour and speculation which might cause damage to the government.

More than overdue.

And if they (and more and more other people) continue to incriminate the wrongdoers this common crime will be accepted less and less

- and may be one day there will be a change to the better

Am I the only one that sees the irony....In charge of the anti-graft commission is a Police General.....:whistling:

No. another poster above appears to have implied the same. It doesn't say that in the report.

It says that that the guy In charge of the Anti-Corruption Organization of Thailand, AOT chairman Pramont Sutheewongs on Monday submitted an open letter to the chairman of the National Anti-Corruption Commission (NACC) chairman Pol Gen Watcharapol Prasarnrajkit

Unless I am reading it wrongly, there is the (AOT), Anti-Corruption Organization of Thailand and a seperate (NACC), National Anti-Corruption Commission.

But it is very confusing - because it appears that there are two similar organisations doing the same thing. However, we all know which one pulls the strings...................

According to its website the AOT is a member of the NACC.

Failed? I would say they seem to be doing a pretty effective job of going after certain people and giving others a free pass. That IS their purpose.

Its not just the NACC its the DSI its the PACC they are all not doing their job well.

If you read the news well, you see that the anti graft organization is demanding updates from the NACC and not the DSI and PACC. You have to separate real news and personal opinion.

Could we at least not have the report for the first few watches? Yea, he was given more time as there were more watches, but the deputy PM said, and I quote, “This is easy to explain”.

So, let’s see the report and explanation for the first couple of watches and ring. This could go a long way in helping relieve people’s concerns of a cover up.

They just fired a man for confusing the public about elections. Can’t the PM wield 44 and fire a man for confusing the public about how he got to be wearing luxury watches. The deputy PM said it was easy to explain and yet months later we are still waiting. That’s confusing.

Exactly, because as long as they keep asking for updates, they have an excuse to not make a decision on the cases.

Exactly. They are simply kicking this whole matter into the long grass - as many of us have predicted they would. It is the same with the 'election' - delay, procrastinate, put on hold, delay, delay, lie, lie, lie ...

Does anyone SERIOUSLY think that Prawit will be punished in any substantial way? If so - I have a beautiful mansion I can sell you on Jupiter!

Could have had 50 of these ones at B2,000 each and wore a different one every week for a year and avoid all this embarrassment. They all tell the same time as those B200,000 pieces.

Easily, and justifiably, affordable on an army man’s salary.
