THAILAND, 2nd April 2018 (NNT) - Thailand is holding merit making ceremonies to mark the birthday anniversary of HRH Princess Maha Chakri Sirindhorn on April 2.

At the Public Relations Department (PRD), Acting Secretary-General Lt Gen Sansern Kaewkamnerd led department officials in an alms giving ceremony for nine monks at Wat Sukhontharam.

Thailand has designated April 2 each year as Thai Heritage Conservation Day and the PRD has therefore held a exhibition with shops selling traditional Thai products while those attending are encouraged to dress in traditional Thai clothing.

Trad is observing the birthday anniversary as well as Civil Servants Day, by giving alms to 64 monks.

At Wat Sala Daeng in Saraburi, Governor Bundit Thewitiwarak led local officials and members of the private sector in giving alms to monks and releasing fish back into their natural habitat.

In Songkhla, Governor Doldej Padhanarath took part in an alms giving ceremony for 64 Buddhist monks, in dedication to Her Royal Highness.

The province of Phrae has also held merit making ceremonies, as well as an event on the occasion of Civil Servants Day to encourage officials to continue to dedicate themselves to their work.
