Samsung J7 microphone issue

Featured Replies

Hi All,

The mic in my son's phone no longer works. My suspicion was that he must have hit a 'mute' button but I haven't been able to find one! Can someone please point me in the right direction or offer a useful 'how to' video, especially if it's something else?

          Thanks :)

Better do an enhanced interrogation

"Did you drop it in the water???"

It's not waterproof and the mic is one of the first things to die.

I tried to find any hint to no avail (I have a J7+).

Last resort before going to the repair shop:

install "AndroSensor" app.

Among many other data it displays the sound level.

And it's unlikely that this program will be fooled by any settings (mute).

If you make some noise/talk/shout and don't reach 60 db or more then I would suspect that the mic is dead.

There are some hints on the net.

The obvious of course: restarting, switch off/on.

Cleaning (careful!)/blowing the mic "hole" next to USB.

Toggling Flight Mode on/off.

Switching off bluetooth.

...all it took was a cocktail stick in the mic hole & the phone works perfectly again. It was a bit like re-setting a dashcam when the card plays up

Thanks KhunBenQ

Thanks KhunBenQ

I often had that problem with my old Nokia phone. The first time I took it to service and they did the same. A small instrument in the mic hole and a little compressed air.

It is all the "dust and dirt" in your pockets.
