BANGKOK, 13th April 2018 (NNT) – The Ministry of Tourism and Sports has cooperated with its network partners to launch the Community Chef for Sustainable Thai Tourism project, aimed at developing local food nationwide.

The Tourism and Sports Minister, Weerasak Kowsurat, chaired a meeting of the committee for administrating the Community Chef for Sustainable Thai Tourism project. The meeting was attended by representatives from PTT Global Chemical Public Company Limited, the Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT), and other agencies.

Mr. Weerasak said the project will raise the quality of local food from communities around Thailand and promote 10 delicious menu items of each community to attract Thai and foreign tourists to the local areas.

The Ministry of Tourism and Sports and network partners will provide culinary training to the chefs from 30 communities nationwide.

Boiled down?

Is that part of some traditional condensed food recipe?

Can't really see foreign tourists seriously visiting numerous towns etc., just to eat their local dishes.

And who will decide which dishes are delicious and should be on the 'list' for each region / town? I recall the silly promotion the BMA had some years back on food and they put up signs on individual small / local restaurants etc., saying 'clean', and 'good taste' but in reality 'good taste' is a personal decision any nothing more.

By the way Mr. Minister the previous lady minister was very active and doing a fairly good job but she got dumped.

Haven't really seen any 'wow' initiates from you. And this ain't a 'wow' initiative.

Next...

Great idea in a country where all food and hygiene inspectors seem to be on life long 'inactive posts'.

Borne out by just in the last few days 60+ school kids got severe diarrhea at a school camp, several had to be hospitalized.

Obviously the school hosting the camp is not paying much attention to hygiene.  Should be some severe punishment imposed on the host school for this.

Friends of my Thai son and his wife laugh when they see son and wife taking home cooked food to their kids at school events, camps etc. Both of them got quite sick at camps when they were in high school, not taking any chances with their own kids.
