Good article. The New Year water festival is a huge celebration in Myanmar.

Have you been to Myanmar for their water festival? How was it?

I was living in Yangon. The water festival is a huge holiday there. A lot of public gatherings in parks, with bands, food, and entertainment. The roads are near impassable as they set up bleachers lining major roads to allow people a platform from which to throw water. It appears everyone has a very enjoyable time. But visitors must realize how big of a holiday this is, and not get upset with hours long traffic jams, water being thrown at everything and everyone.

Surprisingly, China also celebrates this as seen in the link above.
