A young man drowned after he rode his motorcycle into a pond behind a hotel in Udon Thani’s Muang district on Tuesday morning.

The deceased was identified as Pipat Saendee, 22, a salesman at a shopping mall in the district.

After police were alerted to the accident at 7am, Pipat and his motorcycle were found in the pond, with the man having suffered a wound above his left eyebrow.

Tyre tracks indicated that he had ridden his motorcycle into the pond without slowing down, police said.

A doctor determined that he might have died about two hours before his body was retrieved.

Police suspect that Pipat lost control of his bike, rode into the hotel compound and then into the pond because the area was dark.

That would do it. Well done.

After a week of the worst motorcycle riding I've seen there is no surprise any more.

Of course, maybe he was just trying to "dip" his headlight.

We cannot judge. We don't have any information. Maybe suicide, texting, unskilled rider, maybe drunk riding, or whatever.

Rest in Peace
