silom dental clinic

look here for good descriptions of dental procedures , including implants , and some pricing information.

they are in bangkok.

for teeth cleaning (scaling and polishing) you should be able to go to any local dentist and get it done , it is a bread and butter procedure that any dentist will be able to do thoroughly , you dont need a specialist or complicated equipment. likewise simple fillings.

for root canal work , crown and bridge ..... and veneer and implant work especially ... experience and the ability to choose the correct material (type of metal alloy , type of porcelain , the right material for the preparation and the impression taking) is most important.

using low quality (cheap) or inappropriate materials will affect the success of the treatment , either in terms of appearance , longevity or biocompatibility.

thats why price alone should never be the deciding factor when choosing a dentist for advanced treatment.

you need to be able to trust the dentist to give you the most suitable treatment for the case , its down to them putting ethics and professionalism before business interests but still being able to make some profit.

there is no dental regulatory body in thailand to look after patients interests and so cowboys can have a field day.

a dentist who will take the time and trouble to go through all the options available and explain the nature of the treatment would be a better bet than one who wont.

for basic work , a local clinic that is always busy , maybe a one man operation , where it is obvious that he has a good reputation with the locals , good with kids etc. would be my first choice.

for more advanced work i would wait until i could get to bangkok.

for emergency relief of a toothache , one of the hospitals with a dental department , and then bangkok for the root canal later.

So tax, do you recommend Silom Dental Clinic from personal experience or is that just to offer comparative pricing?

Posted

mostly to offer comparative pricing.

ive never been there , but i know a few people who have had treatment there and were pleased with the results and the service.

the website is informative too , and the prices typical of bangkok foriegner targeted clinics , and i'm pretty sure the prices are the same for thais too.

Thanks Tax, for providing the website for us that are too lazy or haven't all that time, it will be helpful to many out there, including myself. And your post was also very informative. Thank again for you input.

I would definitely always reccomend the Samui Dental Home, next to Tesco Lotus, oppisite the Bank. Even though they're are the more expensive of the dentists on the Island, its only a little more expensive for an outstanding service and professional treatment.

They have so much experience and I believe their Head Office is in bangkok where they consult with more professional collegues if they encounter a particularilty tricky situation like myself. (Dental Phobia and then moterbike accident which broke my jaw and damaged teeth!)

The work fantastically with people who have a phobia too and are generally just very sensitive to your evey need and take their time in working on you so that you don't feel rushed, panicked or pain.

I'm truly inspired by the dentists there to the point of day-dreaming "what if I'd been a dentist"; which coming from a Severe Dental Phobic is amazing!

Good luck with your treatments, be it cleaning or major implants.

Best regards, :o

Can anyone reccomend a nice and affordable dentist in samui for basic teeth cleaning.

Whats the going rate these days anyways?

What about laser whitening, anyone had it done in samui?

nah,i dont agree with ya on this dentist,i went in to talk about some possible molar inlays, after an xray he tried to pursuade me that i needed 2 crowns at 10,000 baht each,i knew this was nonsence as already had previous check, and still 70 to 80% of original good tooth left,he insisted, and took a mold of my teeth and said his laboratory would make these false teeth by the following day!he wanted a 10k deposit,i said "ill just nip to the atm"....see ya!......me no return......i later had inlays at ban luck fun,5k each...perfect

I wonder how long they'll last? And skipping out on a lie, isn't cool, make it seem like you're not a man that can tell a dentist you don't want what he's selling since it's to expensive, but rather put tail between legs and wander off. Afraid to be honest?

I had supaporn before but she has moved to BKK.
