I know Pattaya vedy well, so I do not understand why you always want to convince others you have an better opinion of what is best for others 😄 No Pattaya do not have great kayaking, hills, fishing, diving or freediving, and K forgot hiking and trekking in the jungle. Neither do Pattaya have quiet beaches and beach front bungalows -

Foreign pickup driver flees after crashing into Thai woman in Phuket
A Thai woman took to social media in a bid to search for a reckless foreign man who crashed his pickup into her in Phuket and fled the scene. The Thai victim, whose name remains undisclosed, shared details of the accident with the Phuket Times today, September 12. She stated that the incident occurred a few days ago, but the police were still unable to track down the foreign suspect. The victim explained that she was riding her motorcycle behind the foreign man’s pickup on Bang Niao Road. She saw the foreign man indicate a left turn and slowly move to the left to change lanes, so she moved ahead into an empty space on the pickup’s right side. Unexpectedly, the pickup driver veered back to the right and hit the victim’s motorcycle, causing her to fall onto the road. She sustained injuries to her chin, both arms, hands, and feet. The foreign driver initially came over to check on her but did not offer any help and later fled the scene. The victim stated that the foreigner did not take responsibility for the accident and she has not received any updates from the police. Many Thai netizens condemned the foreign man, as well as other foreign motorists in Phuket, for their reckless driving and poor behaviour on the roads. Some also criticised the Thai police for focusing more on cases involving foreigners than on those involving Thais. “I drive every day and encounter foreign motorists with terrible driving skills every day as well. Sorry for being rude but these foreigners even dare to complain to me on the road when they are actually in the wrong.” “If a Thai person hit a foreigner, they would be hunted down and punished.” “The pickup didn’t even have a registration plate. Why haven’t the police arrested him? There are many cars in Phuket without registration plates.” “A lot of awful foreign motorists are in the Rawai area. They ignore red lights and have almost hit me and my son several times. The police should take this matter seriously and arrest these illegal motorists.” “Some foreigners have never driven a car in their lives and use Phuket’s public roads for training.” As of now, there has been no update from the relevant police officers regarding the identity of the foreign suspect. Is the Tax compliance going to be linked to Visa issuance ?
I guess I will find out in October, when I apply for my next visa extension. I am below tax thresholds in my home country. No tax payable with a DTA. My non-taxable pre-2024 assets are sufficient to finance my living expenses here for the next 6 years. If I need a tax ID, I will get one. I am told the pink Thai ID card is effectively the same. -

Yesterday, September 11, a reporter highlighted the severe flooding situation in Chiang Rai province, exacerbated by continuous rainfall and the relentless flow of floodwaters. The water levels have surged to between 1 and 2 metres in some low-lying areas, significantly impacting the locals. Many people have become trapped in areas where the water level is high and the current is strong. Residents have been constantly posting calls for help on social media. Among these, a recent post stood out, seeking assistance for an eight year old boy who was stranded behind the PP Home apartment building. “My eight year old nephew is stuck in the building behind PP Home. Please help my nephew. He is not with his parents, and we can’t contact him. He hasn’t eaten anything since yesterday morning.” The boy is reportedly trapped behind the PP Home apartments, located in Moo 7, Ban Ko Sai, Soi 10, near the Ko Sai Shrine. Don’t kill the golden goose! Tax reforms may drive away expats
A more measured response, now that I am home once again: D’man said that only a handful of work permit holders need to prove their taxes before leaving the country, the UN report says there are 170,000 foreign skilled and professional people here which is considerably more than just a handful. You are mixing things up. Sure, there are more than a handful of work permit holders on Non B visas. Agree. None of these need to "prove taxes before leaving the country". There is a requirement for a tax return to be shown upon an extension for Non B work permit visa holders, nothing is required to be shown when leaving the country. Immigration do not ask any of these people for a "tax clearance certificates" before leaving the country. Tax clearance certificates are not operational. See below for more on this. There are thousands of these holders coming and going every day, and have been for many years. If there was a need for them to obtain a TCC , it would have been evident, discussed. I'll refer you to this thread , have a look and you'll see the founders and established mods of this forum state the same, that TCC's are not in force and have not been for many years, looks like 2003 it was stopped. Here's another link stating the TCC isn't operational, from the forum founder: I'll say something we can agree on, these 170,000 are paying tax, yes, and they do tax returns and show them to Immigration each year as part of the extension process. But the TCC isn't in operation. I'll just leave this one here. -
