Okay, I have to say something about this. At first I thought maybe I was accidentally hitting a link on the page, but now I realize there's really irritating practice going on here of foisting pop up ads - in the whole browser window!!

This is totally idiotic. How irritating to be immersed in a topic when suddenly it vanishes to be replaced by a full-page advertisement! Unreal. I for one do not appreciate it.

Anyone else who agrees, please inform the management.

HAVE A NICE DAY! :o

We are not serving any popups, popunders etc. on this web site., and we will never do! You must have got it from a previous visited site!

Just happened again as I typed the first letter of a post! Sorry, ADMINS. Maybe some evil outside influences at work here!

Anyone have any idea what this is and how to deal with it? I have firewall software, but maybe NO GOOD!

Sorry so quick to point the finger at the board. You all seem like such good guys, which is why I was a bit shocked.

But hang on, I just realized this ONLY happens on your site!

Hmm, maybe an invesitgation is in order.

In the bottom corner of the ad, it says: Ads by Google. So they're serving the popunders, and they're linked to your site. Mostly they're ads for Thai travel/resort destinations. But the frequency is picking up.

I think you should check into it.

I know what you are doing you are clicking on those ads b4 the page has loaded properly

try waiting for the page to fully load b4 clicking in the upper areas of the page

That's what I thought at first, but not so. Often I'll go to another window while one page is loading, and I select windows from the menu bar. I've been watching this for a few days now, since like I said, I thought I must be doing something wrong.

I think the Mr. J is closer to the truth, but the Google connections still makes me suspicious; tho if there's not mass protest over this, then maybe it's a local problem. Thanks J. I'll give spybot a go. :o

Again, I'm having the same problem. I forgot about the google connection until ubergnome mentioned it. By the way, I have spybot installed, and I use it.

I believe those ads above the forum panel are a google thing and generated by topic you are viewing. It might be a timing thing, I get similar symptoms to you but have found clicking in those areas to be the problem

I downloaded and installed Adware, Spybot and Spyware Blaster and updated Mcafee Firewall. That oughta fix it! What a pain in the ass. I haven't worked on a Windoze machine in a few years. Welcome to the Brave New World. :o

For what it is worth. I use this web board several times a day and have none of the pop up problems that are cropping up on your puters. I use McAfee Virus and the standard Windows Firewall and nothing else. Windows XP and Windows Explorer, all standard stuff.

So you have picked up some stray stuff someplace that is not coming from ThaiVisa.

Good luck in your efforts to clean it up since the problem is most exasperating to live with.

So far so good, now that the new stuff's installed. Yes, I now believe the culprits were already on the machine before I started here - It's not my machine!.

Sorry for the indignant outburst, but I've never experienced these problems before. Then again, in Thailand I've experienced lots of things I never had before. :o

some things defy explanation :o

Have installed the 3 spyware programs + updated McAfee Virusscan & Firewall.

After all that it's still happening.

Any more suggestions?

I must be lucky / unlucky I don't get 'em at all. I run adaware and spybot regularly

Kill everyone in the world, that's the only way to stop the pop ups, that or (gulp) re format your computer. I gave my mother a full nud_e massage, that helped a bit.

Or you could try symantec www.symantec.com It kicks the shlt out of Norton Antivirus 2004. Odd, since they're both made by the same company.

You could also as a super precaution run an online scan here: http://housecall.trendmicro.com/

Or I could give you my mum's number, up to you.

1st scenario probably more effective. :o

Or just switch everything over to Apple gear. :D

What's your mum look like? :D

I ran Adaware the other day and it objected to a couple of items that had come from ThaiVisa.

I also have had a few popups but not many

I repeat: No popups or popunders are serverd from this site. Period.

What you might have seen is a few so called "cookies" from this board. Some spy programs categorize them as junk. Nothing to worry about, as they are needed for knowing your username etc when you are logged in here.

Adaware is fine and dandy, I run it every time I finish with the internet and it always catches one or two data miner programs, more, obviously if I've been looking at gay / lesbian fetish giraffe porn.

A word of warning, it will delete some operating files if you run kazaa or kazaa-lite.

My Mum is hot, and by hot I mean sweaty.
