A large bus stop roof outside the PTT head office on Viphawadee - Rangsit Road outbound collapsed in heavy storms last night.

People sheltering from the storm were seem running for alternative cover as the roof first slipped than almost completely crashed to the sidewalk surface.

There were no injuries reported in the incident, said Daily News.

High winds and heavy rains lashed the capital last night paralyzing much of the city.

Particularly severe was the area near Rachada Soi 42, Lat Prao Road around the Union Mall and Inthamara Soi 9 that were all virtually impassable by small vehicles.

So lucky there were no injuries.  Especially for the people who were exiting the bus.

One here in Bang Saray had a roof collapse about a year ago in a storm.
The solution, rather than repair it, which I am pretty sure I could have managed with hand tools, a couple of boards, and maybe four hours effort, was to haul the entire thing away and not replace it.
Sort of a weird dichotomy. IMO, between the great reverence for ancient ruins and the resistance to repair or maintenance of what people actually use today.
