Twins aged 5 years and 10 months were "married" in ban Sawang, Surin, yesterday in a ceremony intended to ward off bad luck.

Mum Ketsarin told Sanook that her twins are called Patrachon, a boy, and Patranok, a girl.

Elders in the village told her she must organize a marriage ceremony to stave off bad karma and ensure that the twins enjoy a long life.

So on Friday - Wan Suk, a popular day for weddings as the word for Venus sounds the same as the word for happiness - relatives and friends gathered for a wedding with all the trappings of real nuptials.

This included a dowry of 80,999 baht laid out covered in flowers.

Many pictures and a video showed the happy occasion that is a fairly common occurrence in Thailand according to ancient beliefs.

Straight from the well known Thai book  '101 reasons to hold a party when you haven't actually got anything to really celebrate"

And if the new law goes through, they can marry if both are boys or girls.

No they couldnt , that new law is for proper marriages , this is just a ceremony and besides, the minimum age for getting married in Thailand is 16

My tongue was in my cheek when I posted. It's called humour.

It wasnt funny, so, it wasnt "humour".

It was an attempt at humour, that just came across as a disparaging remark

As they have a family going through this ceremony, I'd say it's too late for that...

.... to be honest it is a step up from the previous tradition of killing twins at birth... for good luck.

When did this happen ? And when did it stop ?

(Or is this another joke?)

Did the Elders also ask for a blood stained bedsheet the next morning?

Quite a sickening thing to post .

Making the suggestion that the Children would have sex .

Possibly, but some people will not see it as that

But everyone to their own beliefs. There are some on this Earth who think a Jewish guy's Mum was a virgin, and after he had been executed, came back. So why not let twins marry.

The twins do not actually get married though, its just a non committal ceremony .

Not much different to a Christening

Sorry Sir, I must have read the headline incorrectly. My apologies.
