A scene that can be seen on any soi or thanon in Thailand..

Pattaya is not alone in it's "rubbish collection" issue

it's a national disgrace... fed daily by ignorant people of all nationalities!

It's time Thailand as a whole put rubbish disposal and collection higher up the priority list.. but that takes organisation & hard cash.. two things that are slow forthcoming!!

No comparison to London with 8 million people.at least there's a bin there and the public have tried.if there were 2 bins it would be better.the Pattaya rubbish is the equivalent of fly tipping and carries at least a £1,000 fine.here nothing.i live outside a city and there's plastic bags and garbage absolutely everywhere.

You have the choice , another in London , A street in New york, a park in Berlin and a street in Paris, but those must be fake picture thr specialists on TV could tell you it is only in Thailand.

Pattaya is never going to be a 5 star family tourist destination. Got to give the TAT lots of creit, i don't know who makes the brochures that keep them flocking in by the droves but they deserve a raise.

Yep, say what you like about my fav city, but everyone wants to come here. This includes the jealous TV posters who slag it off from their jungle clearings in Nakhon Nowhere.

The last pictures from the street in Paris, shows the shit from the so-called refugees from N-Africa that bring us in Europe.

But that's another story, and luckily we do not have that problem in LOS.

And when you think about that, it is worser than the shit in Pattya.

It's a Thai thing. I've just come back from Koh Lanta and everywhere there one sees piles of rubbish. All Thai resorts are spoilt by piles of rubbish discarded by the roadsides.

"Come to our beautiful beaches and ignore piles of stinking rubbish left on the roadsides"! They ALL think nothing of dumping their rubbish anywhere they want.

Yes but these areas in these cities with their terrible problems are not promoting themselves and the family holiday mecca of the Far East - which is how the Thais want their shitty, smelly, sewage laden, rat infested beaches areas to appear

And here's Singapore – some of the ideas from there, should be adopted to Thailand...

Edit: Apart from always missing garbage bins, also maintenance of bins...

Our picture seems to suggest that the foreigner pointing at a huge pile of trash in the downtown area might be saying:

"Miami this isn't!"

Your picture also may be suggesting that he's saying, "just like Miami"...

I live in the UK and garbage collection in my town is now only done fortnightly alternating with recycled items. However, piles of garbage are uncommon because everybody has a bin. Maybe Pattaya city hall need to do something similar. Of course they won't because it would cost money.

Pic 1 looks like Ladbroke Grove after the carnival where over a million people descend over 2-3 days.cant quote 2 or 3 but pic 4 is definitely Paris refugees/immigrants with all the blankets.oh and by the way there's probably over 50 times that amount of people in them cities.lets just stick to new Miami the 5 star family resort and the hub of the sex world which must be another number one for Thailand.

Do we all want to go to Pattaya? Myself I rather go krabi with the anderman sea where you can still find nice beaches and not be up to my neck in the scum of the sex world.ive not got nothing against it but I'm sorry that place don't do nothing for me.each and everyone to their own.i like to walk about my village without a flyer of ping pong balls flying out of private parts being shoved in my face or being robbed coming out the 7/11 by a bunch of lady lads.everyone one loves Pattaya until the crap hits the fan and then it's time to move to Nakhon nowhere.

London is not Pattaya. What is the connection? I prefer to stay focused on the article and not compare it to another location where I don't live.

The article is about Pattaya, not another place. Focus if one is able to.

The very simple point is that it's too easy to take a picture of a pile of rubbish in almost any city on earth and then write a disparaging article on the subject about how the authorities this and that. On TVF the Thaibashers love it when such an opportunity presents itself, rubbish piles and Pattaya, it's almost too good to be true. Those who actually stop to think about it realise a very similar article could be written about any city in the fully developed world, not just emerging and developing countries, it's actually quite sad that people do that..

But this is ThaiVisa, somehow it attracts people who have very little else to do but moan about the country they choose to reside, I would have thought it would be better not to choose to live somewhere that you don't like.

I didn't like the UK, that's why I left in 1990, but when I came to Thailand I actually realised that it wasn't a developed country, it was a developing country, with the associated problems of a developing country.

Many ThaiVisa members seem unable to grasp that, but it must be better than the place they chose to leave.

Thank you--although it's a pity that simple points like this need to be explained!

Perhaps if the various municipal governments got serious, they would start distributing some of these around the areas that tend to collect garbage and in the case of the markets, charge the stallholders for removal.

The garbage business in the USA and Canada is controlled by mafia style operators. does Pattaya for example, have a mafia? You know they do.

It's only the Chinese that are flocking in and they don't care if the streets are covered in human <deleted> let alone a bit of garbage
