BANGKOK — Twelve people have been arrested in connection with the kidnapping of a Chinese tourist at an international airport in Bangkok earlier this month, police said Wednesday.

Immigration police officer Nipon Buddharaksa was among those arrested following revelations he was involved in the abduction of Hong Kong resident Jinchai Cheng, 39, according to deputy tourist police commander Maj. Gen. Surachet Hakpal.

How can 5 people take her through Immigration?  Wouldn't the IOs get a bit suspicious....unless they were in on it. And why does the initial post say at A BANGKOK INTERNATIONAL AIRPORT. Why not just say Swampy.

Would guess there's a shady back story to this; some reason the perpetrators were fairly confident the guy wouldn't involve the police, until they got too greedy that is

doesnt sound right, this should have been picked up by the immigration  plus the security people, as they state, police and armed forces personal are often involved in this sort of thing, should have included other government people as well in the list, there would have been a few pay offs to enable this to happen

If you read the first sentence it clearly says.

"Immigration police officer Nipon Buddharaksa was among those arrested"

Lots of international flights to Don Muang, not only Swampy.

Why didn't she start screaming in the airport if she was being abducted? Why just meekly walk with them into the van?

It's terrifying that immigration officers are involved in abducting someone but there's a lot more to this story.

propably she knew why she was kidnapped - her husband owned money , maybe to a business in thailand, and she was told to keep quiet. it is a well known secret that there are corrupt officials and policeman who help extort / collect debts , but that's of course is a crime, even if the debt is legal.

Suvarnabhumi airport police have been involved in private security for international wildlife traffickers, luggage theft, and now extortion.  Seems to be a serious problem with the recruiting and personnel management processes, worthy of investigation.

The United Nations has the RTP listed as... 'A Criminal Organisation'.    They do love to live up to their reputations you know; it's a face thing !

... actually, from the article: "Police and military officers are routinely caught in illicit acts."

and since Police and Military Officers are running this country..., well, it is kind of political.

Can't believe the immigration police wearing red in the video is that stupid! Does he not know there is CCTV everywhere, and he can be seen following the victim and leading the kidnappers.

The rest of the folks looks like chinese nationals who flew in on the same flight as her. One can be seen at the bridge pretending to be on the phone, while the victim was fixing her shoe. The other 3 surrounded her later.

How ironic at 5:08 video mark there is a sign saying "stop human trafficking". The victim should have screamed and made a scene, but guess she was probably threaten with her family members being in danger if she did something stupid.

Crimes like this is actually very common in China, it has been for over 20 years.

Poor lady.  Must have been terrified.  I'm sure they said if she yelled some family would be harmed.  Plus she probably thought going through IO would save her.  Once she realized he was in on things.  Would you trust police to help her even if she yelled.   How bold of this crew to not worry about CCTV.   They must have really thought husband would pay and keep quiet.

If not for all the craziness in the world I think this would make World news and hurt tourism.

Such clean cut looking Thai doing such a nasty deed.

Can I wish for public execution?
