lately,

i have been helping some nice people with the cost of their health care.

old lady tumer removal

young lady face swell up like balloon sinus issues.

what health coverage does the thai government provide?

also, hospital that smell bad and no air conditioning.

how refreshing!

this is why i love this place and these people.

westerners are so spoiled.

sometimes the name of the game is survival.

elegant in its simplicity.

The government provides pretty much everything free of charge (or for a token 30 baht charge). Hospitalization, outpatient, surgery, medications etc.

However in some cases people may have to travel some distance for what they need if their local hospital is just district level. The travel costs they have to bear on their own.

If you have been paying for direct cost of treatment at a government hospital you are being conned.

In Patong a couple years ago I had paramedics take me to the hospital in an ambulance. Doctor diagnosed and I got medicine.
Total cost 3000 baht.

The universal health coverage would fully pay anything related to hemorrhoids but are you sure that is what you mean and not hemodialysis?

It will fully pay the costs of peritoneal dialysis.

Hemodialysis is supported only for patients who for some reason cannot do peritoneal dialysis, and these must pay 40% of the cost themselves.

This applies only to Thai citizens covered under the "universal" or "30 baht" system.

If you are asking for yourself, you are not covered by this system and would have to pay full costs, unless you are enrolled in Social Security by reason of employment or marriage to a civil servant.

Deleted, sorry saw your explanation regarding Social Security. It's really worth gold.

i said ask your sister.

then......

little girl fell down playing soccer at school.

punched tooth all the way through lower lip.

stitches inside and outside i guess.

2 nights hospital.

school insurance pays only 7000 baht.

so now i am a rat for not sending a pile of baht.

i have tax man all over me so slim pickings right now.

1. Why is he unable to do peritoneal dialysis, which the govt will fully pay for?

2. If the little girl is a Thai citizen her care would be free at govt hospitsl where she is registered.

What "school insurance" ?????

3. It sounds like you are being taken advantage of/conned.
