Kalasin doctor recovered from river after apparent suicide

By The Nation

The body of a Kalasin physician who is believed to have jumped from a bridge to his death in the Chi River on Sunday night was recovered downstream on Tuesday morning.

A search that continued all day Monday ended when the body of Dr Phaisan Tungchaemdeewattana, 45, surfaced about three kilometres downstream from the bridge where his car had been found abandoned in Tambon Chao Thai, Kamalasai district.

A security camera recorded Phaisan parking his car and walking towards the bridge, but not returning.

A resident told police he’d seen Phaisan sitting on the bridge’s concrete railing at about 8pm Sunday and about 30 minutes later noticed he was gone.

Ah, then he didn't recover. Headline should read  "Kalsin Doctor's BODY recovered from ......."

That's what I first thought that he survived. If a doctor, or any other human, recovers, he/she can hardly be dead, can they?

I quite agree but this is Thaivisa

Whats not known is guessed at, actually I dont think he was fishing

I well remember when I was taken to task once and accused of Thai bashing after criticizing a rescue operative for claiming a person who had been dead for 4/5 days died of a heart attack or had committed suicide

Its all a lack of respect and professional standards

Its all a lack of respect and professional standards which results from a very poor educational system?

People can be really callous at times.

To anybody out there contemplating suicide.

Please, don't do that.

There's nothing So bad that can't be fixed , and life is full of surprises that you can't see right now.

Don't leave 5 minutes before the miracle.

Worked with a guy once. Really nice guy. Did not seem to have a worry in the world. Never took a day off work. Then one day he never came to work. Said to somebody. Where is Marty strange for him to have a day off. Yeah, they said he won't be coming back he was found hanging in his shed. Whether its money worries, lady troubles, sick of life troubles, stress who knows what drives them to do it. I keep that saying in my head " Once you are dead you are dead for a long time.

There are a lot of things that play on peoples mind bad enough.  For kids is often bullying or sexual Identity (or both) For older folk, lost love or fear of "coming out" are more common than we imagine.   I can say that sometimes some people think: "If I do it, it will make "so & so" feel bad/ guilty for what they did, and teach them a lesson. (Delusions of self importance????)  And then they do it!  That was me!! My tipping point was a broken marriage.  But then I thought, "What if they don't feel guilty enough?  It will be too late and a waste of the rest of my life."  So I didn't do it.  I am still here and I watch myself for signs that depression or stress is getting to me again and I need to do something about it.  Prozac for few months!!!  Must be working.  Shakespeare's "three score and ten" have been & gone.
