It contained 24,172 baht, 2,300 Yuan, 14,000 Yen, $100, 288 Yuan in "Ang Pao" envelopes and 13 credit cards.

Is that one of the new briefcase-sized wallets, or was it just a very 'fat' one?

A red ang pao candy (strawberry flavour) was given as a reward, but not mentioned in the news item.

Probably right.

If it was me it would be at least 5,000 b.

If one has small money and little credit, I guess they only need a small wallet.

You've lost me on your comment. Also, why on earth carry around 50,000 in cash?

What are the odds of this happening in Pattaya, one in a million? Most would keep the money and then go to the temple and thank the lucky spirits for their good fortune.

because  in los even the police are honest, not just taxi drivers?

perhaps it is time for a junta to fake a story and pretend to be honest like the watch blokey

In other news, a Chinese tour guide was arrested for working without a permit.

And coincidenally the "fine" will be 50,000 Baht? :whistling:

this wonderful news surely outweighs the petty news about getting a gun pointed at you for driving faster by a person that apparently gets away with possession of and using a gun in public after talking to the police.

No wonder the boys in brown were all smiles. Even the Chinaman was smiling until he was told, that guiding tours is a profession prohibited by alien (like ever non-Thai) according to the Alien Business Law.

He then - most likely - had to fork over some of the regained funds - to the smiles of the BiB.

Isn’t it a sad state of affairs when someone’s turning in of a wallet affects the reputation of a “tourist destination?”

There's not much good news coming out of Pattaya police station.  Today there's a story of a drunken cop threatening a member of the public.  Last week a woman was extorted and fondled by a cop INSIDE the police station.  No wonder this story needed inventing.
