30 policemen took more than an hour to subdue a drug addict...:cheesy:

It's all the hours of high intensity training that allowed them to do that in such a short time!

Yes, we know. They even shoot someone for not getting out of a car when ordered. Thailand seems more civilised in that respect.

incompetent police , yet again..surely this situation warrants taser or gas use....they dont even have handcuffs..

its beyond being funny....

They always cover the handcuffs or in movies or on TV blurr them.

Tasers, stun guns plastic bullets or  tear gas would have been better than clothes racks.

What was his crime? Being high?  If 30 cops started chasing me with clothes racks, I would defend myself with anything that was available.

500baht........Next!

He had already threatened his own father and thrown bottles at around thirty cops and rescue workers who were trying to take him down.

He even covered himself in fuel and threatened to set light to himself before he was successfully taken into custody.

its all there in black and white!!

So if it takes 30 cops to apprehend  1 man, high on Yaba, in Khon Kaen, 13 cops to apprehend 1 monk in Frankfurt, how many cops does it take to apprehend a Red Bull fugitive, in who knows where?

…or a fugitive running off to Dubai!!

I commend the Thai cops for their restraint and professionalism.  In the US the cops would have summarily executed the guy.

Made up, politically motivated charges don't register with Interpol and the international community.

I can’t tell whether you posted that as a positive or a negative.

It is called suicide by cop, give them credit they didn't kill the guy or beat him up to much

Absolutely true. Most likely within a nano second after he threw anything at an officer a hail of bullets would have followed.

That's a well-coordinated team. They must rehearse a lot.

Yes, consistent hard daily training for this scenario. Pure muscle memory; however, 1/2" pvc is used for training. The clothes racks are saved for real events such as this.

Illustrates that locking up drug addicts does not solve anything. They relapse as soon as they get out, which is to be expected as the cause of their problem is not addressed, there is zero rehabilitation.

Rehabilitation particularly does not work if the people like taking drugs and want to continue as soon as the treatment program finishes.  And there is plenty of rehab offered in Chonburi province to first and second time caught users and some third time caught users.  But, as soon as they are released they are home boasting that they won't get caught again as now they know what mistake they made and they are now definitely smarter than the cops.  And all their druggie friends arrive with more Ya Ba.   Free to start with, just to make sure they don't forget the habit   Well that  happens round here.  So prison doesn't work?  Well while they are there it stops them threatening to kill members of their family who can't afford to give them the money they demand with menaces to buy their drugs.   Mothers and fathers living in fear of their sons.  So to get the money they go selling drugs, which is what their "friends" wanted anyway.   And, surprise, surprise, they get caught again but this time it is selling and their mother's truck they took with menaces is still impounded over a year after the arrest.    They get five years with no rehabilitation as by now they are clearly a waste of effort and resources.   That definitely happens round here too.  But Mother may not have a truck now, but at least she can sleep at night for the first time in years.  Prison doesn't work you say?  Tell me the REAL other options.

For sure a bullet in the head would have been faster and easier but it isn't what police are supposed to do on a case like this. Their duty was to get him safely and hand him to the justice system...
