  1. The United States and the DPRK commit to establish new US-DPRK relations in accordance with the desire of the peoples of the two countries for peace and prosperity.
  2. The United States and DPRK will join their efforts to build a lasting and stable peace regime on the Korean Peninsula.
  3. Reaffirming the April 27, 2018 Panmunjom Declaration, the DPRK commits to work toward complete denuclearization of the Korean Peninsula
  4. The United States and the DPRK commit to recovering POW/MIA remains, including the immediate repatriation of those already identified.

Above is what they signed.

Peace in our time.

An agreement about what?

That they both wanted cheeseburgers for lunch?

We know NOTHING about this agreement and what is in it!

It's a peace of paper. If there are any specific details, they weren't disclosed. All that was released are general statements. To remind, Trump walked out on a much more detailed, comprehensive agreement after denigrating it for months, if not years. I'm sure it's a success as far as Kim goes, not so sure about the US and the rest of the world.

It could be the beginning of something positive, but the celebrations are premature - as are the pronouncements that something substantial was achieved.

You did not pay attention.

The rest of the world minus your 'We' knows exactly what is in it.

Thank goodness, right... progress towards peace ?

Kim managed to talk down a deranged madman with a nuclear stockpile... and should get a medal for it, if not a peace prize.

well done to Kim, who, on the surface, seems to have garnered concessions from the United States, by proposing to give away even less than in any other peace process before, whilst gaining more.

a wonderful performance, and a minor miracle has occurred, in even getting the mad hatter out of Manhattan.

any Win claimed by trump might be more correctly seen to be about potential future agreements, the goodwill for which, he is buying today, maybe at the expense of his allies in the region.

and Iran is correct to caution Kim not to be to overjoyed at his success, because trump might cancel it, before the ink is completely dry

the fate of the world depends on which side of the bed trump rises from in the morning... perhaps now is the time for Melanie to shine.

Yes, nothing but vague promises from both sides.

Good the meeting was held, a positive, but that is all that was positive about it. Hopefully the underlings will be able to get something more solid hammered out.

Todays meeting was to come to agreements so that further meetings can be arranged to go into detail .

USA & NK diplomats will meet in the near future to go into detail .

Today was just bullet point agreements  .

*Do you agree to give up your quest for nukes in return for guaranteed safety and prosperity ? *

   *Yes*

*OK , lets arrange a meeting for next week to hammer out a deal*

Yes, and similar agreements were made two times before and both times led to nothing.

The high profile meeting of the top leaders is a first but the same result, vague piece of paper.

It might end up differently this time but no rational reason to be sure that it will.

Of course the true believer "trump" base isn't interested in facts or history. Only propaganda that props up their dear authoritarian American leader.

Yes, bizarrely, too much in common for comfort between "trump" and Kim.

Also worth considering. Nixon DID open up China to the west and he was also threatened with certain impeachment leading to his resignation. "trump" may indeed (the jury is out) open up North Korea and he also faces a very real risk of crimes being exposed possibly leading to his downfall as well.

I give credit to Nixon about China and if this pans out for "trump" I'll give credit to him for that as well. But he still should go -- he's a disgraceful, criminally corrupt con man.

Please read, the answer to your question was at best 'we'll work towards it'.

The only achievement is a follow up meeting.

I don't see it like that at all.  I see it as an important first step in reducing tension in the world.  Kim can have anything he wants.  Give up the nukes and allow his people to work and not starve.  The West will pay for it.  Look at what happened to China when it got some cash.  Not reformed but a whole lot better.  China has a bull by the tail as it's people get more affluent and so will Kim.  How you gonna keep em down on the farm?

The previous agreements were by different people at a different time .

That was during the cold war , when there were hostilities between the East & West .

The World is a different place these days .

NK is now marginalised , no guaranteed Chinese support .

That is very naive. Everything Kim wants is to hold on to total power and regime survival. He doesn't care about his people and if they get too much freedom, wealth, and exposure to information, he could easily meet the fate of his brother, who he murdered.

The difference is the world wide ease of communication now as opposed to back them.  Despots give populations just a bit of access and it's over.

Because the members of the Kim dynasty truly care about the welfare of the people over which they have reigned for the past 75 years.
