Will

Featured Replies

Hello, i am looking for information's about will in Thailand.

My situation is that I have living in Thailand for long time now. I am not married (divorced) and I have only 1 son 19 years old.

I am not considering myself old as I am 50 years old only and I am still active ( working) but i am preventive guy. I have nothing left in my original country but as been based in Thailand for more than 25 years now, my life is there with my son. My son has dual nationality, so his Thai. I have arranged to have our houses under his name, so no issues for the future. The main things that I am concern at the moment are like bank accounts in Thailand, which i would him to have access in the worst case.

I have contacted my lawyer in Bangkok who first provide me a quotation of 12,000b to draft a will, which i find a bit expensive but i have no idea about such services.

Also, he is mentionning that an executive person need to be nominated, either from my choice our chose their law firm.

He is mentioning the reason of the executive person will be to attend the court jurisdiction which will depend on your last residince, draft the petition and supporting documents such as family three, submit the case to court, prepare draft testimony for your son, represent the case to court until we obtain the court order, and assist your son at the bank for liquidation.

Again, i have no clue about will but my understanding was that a will was to avoid any difficulty such as court, supportive documentations...court order....as long as a will have been legally prepared?

I would appreciate some comments or advises from who has such experience
