Do Victims Have Rights In Thailand?

I was reading another Pattaya crime thread and saw a pic of an Indian in his briefs. It seems that every time there is a crime that they put a pic of the victim in the paper. For a lot of the situations the victim is in during the crime (extracurricular activities and all), he probably doesn't want his identity known.

Why would anyone want to report a crime if they are going to be pictured? Do the victims have any right to anonymity?

this is the reason that the real crime rate is a lot lot higher than actually reported in Pattaya as a lot of people (expats especially) won't report things for the reason that they don't want their pic and name allover the papers and on the net. if you notice most of the reported crimes against farangs are by tourists rather than expats.

I was just thinking that also this may be a reason why the only people that report the crimes have lots of money on them. If you only lose a few thousand baht, its not worth being the next guy photographed for being robbed by bargirl that just so happens to turn out to be a guy too.

News in Asia well is different - they don't see the harm in reporting all details including the victims of crime. Tabloid reporting style - not right, but everyone watches or reads about it.

Do admit seeing indians in briefs does make one want to be extra cautious about the choices they make. :o

It is what Pattaya city news call journaism..............more like sensationalism

Think the only right you have in Pattaya is to,

Go straight to the ATM, Don't pass go, don't collect 200 Baht.

that’s the most common type of right you

get to exercise in pattaya. it curers most problems.

Joking apart this business of showing the victim and perpetrator

On the TV and in the news papers, is real crap. It discourages most reporting

of crime.

But that’s the way they want it, I feel.

It keep the statistics in order.

Way to go Pattaya.
