Thailand to expand child support to all under six years old
Thailand’s Ministry of Social Development and Human Security is poised to propose an expansion of the early childhood development scheme, with plans to present the child support proposal to the Cabinet shortly. The scheme aims to broaden its reach by extending financial support to all children under six years of age, enhancing the current system that aids children from impoverished families. Varawut Silpa-archa, the minister overseeing this initiative, revealed that the updated scheme seeks to extend the existing 600 baht monthly allowance to all children under six, not just those from low-income backgrounds. The expanded programme is projected to benefit approximately 3.2 million children nationwide. The Department of Children and Youth has already taken steps to advance the proposal, forwarding it to the ministry for further action. Should the Cabinet give its approval, the policy is slated to commence in the 2026 fiscal year. Varawut emphasised that the Cabinet’s decision will be pivotal in determining the scheme’s future. “The additional budget required for this expansion is 6.7 billion baht, which is relatively modest when compared to other national programmes.” Varawut highlighted the growing necessity of the initiative, particularly in light of Thailand’s declining birth rate, underscoring the importance of ensuring comprehensive early childhood development. Public sentiment has been gauged regarding the proposal, with many expressing a desire for the allowance to be increased to 1,200 baht for those already receiving aid. The child development programme, initially launched in 2015, started by offering 400 baht monthly for children up to one year old from poor households. It was later expanded to cover children until six years of age, with the allowance increased to 600 baht per month. Eligibility for the current scheme is determined by household income, which must not exceed 100,000 baht annually, reported Bangkok Post. Must Read British tourist dodges death after toxic night at Laos hostel (video)
Some rather hypocritical sentiment which clings on to semantics... ... It's patently obvious that 'harmless' in this context means without long term or life threatening effects... ... And that is a very standard expectation for anyone who consumes alcohol in any social setting... Though, perhaps with the exception of yourself and one other poster who it appears claim you can guarantee with 100% assuredness that whatever you are drinking is 100% genuine and unadulterated 100% of the time... Even with the abundance of bootlegged booze in and around Thailand you are careful enough and skilful enough to be able to avoid anything fake 100% of the time... and that self belief permits you to pass sanctimonious judgement. -

Marrying a Thai Wife: Overrated or Underrated?
Understanding someone who can only see things the Thai way is mission impossible. At least women in Canada and the US have been exposed to people from different cutures and beliefs from many parts of the world. I am of Asisan descent most Thai women only believe I can only be Chinese, Japanese or Korean. When I state that I am from the United States the response is "not possible, you lie". This would be my version of not being compatible. -

Marrying a Thai Wife: Overrated or Underrated?
Yep. Friend of mine not only financially supports his wife (and fat, tattooed goth daughters) but cleans the house (vacuuming and taking care of the cat box), does all the yard work, and does all the gardening so she can pick fresh veggies. He also cooks, but she does some of that when in the mood. Yes, he's (or was) a staunch Kamala supporter. Whenever I visit, I'm so glad to leave. Depressing. -

Need Help With Lease Problem
The Thai law seems quite clear on the matter: Section 564. A contract of hire is extinguished at the end of the agreed period without notice. Section 566. If no period is agreed upon or presumed, either party may terminate the contract of hire at the end of each period for the payment of rent, provided that notice of at least one rent period is given, but no more than two months notice need be given. Section 570. If, at the end of the agreed period, the hirer remains in possession of the property and the lessor knowing thereof does not object, the parties are deemed to have renewed the contract for an indefinite period. Marrying a Thai Wife: Overrated or Underrated?
forgot about what is used for our farm. We have palm oil trees for our farm but we do not live in our home there for a couple years already.. The Thai mother takes care of the farm. We allotted her a couple rai to use for her personal farming use. Veggies and spices mostly with some fruit. The Thai family never ask us for money and the mother makes sure workers take care of our trees. we collect the money from the palm oil seeds about every 3 months and have never been asked for any of it. We know the prices and what money should be there waiting us and they have never taken any money either. I think when it comes to family. If you plan to marry a poor Isaan woman with an even poorer family. They will not only take all of your sinsod but your new wife will make sure she is sending them as much money as possible. If you marry into a family that is not so poor. They want you to make sure the wife has a good life and the kids you make together. So if you are considering marrying a Thai, you need to think about this also. I got lucky in finding my wife. The family gave us the family house and all the land divided by 3 siblings... They returned all sinsod under our bed on the wedding night. They never ask for anything from us unless it is something important that they can not get themselves. Any bills for medical are split between all the siblings that their insurance does not pay. They are self supporting and very proud of this. They do not like their daughter married a foreigner but they are happy she is happy with a good family that has all they need and want. They acknowledge me but language is a barrier we can not seem to get past. -
