james1995 Posted June 23, 2018 Posted June 23, 2018 Hey all. I've always wondered if it would be possible to start a little atm biz in los(in wifes name of course)? I know of a real good places to install them. Being the legit biznessman that I am I am 100% totally certain I can get some people to use them no matter how high the fees. What is the legal framework required to get into this sortof business? Thanks
Swiss1960 Posted June 23, 2018 Posted June 23, 2018 You need an acquiring licence from Visa, MasterCard etc which you only get if you are a financial institution - your idea is already busy. But hey... Marry a good Thai bargirl and be her personal ATM ... same same but different...Sent from my CPH1821 using Thailand Forum - Thaivisa mobile app
Pib Posted June 24, 2018 Posted June 24, 2018 Expect you would also need to get a license from the Bank of Thailand. Additionally I have never seen an ATM in Thailand that is not operated by a licensed Thai bank. Nope, expect getting a license to operate an ATM is a little more complicated than operating a water, gumball, or mobile prepay card type machine. https://www.bot.or.th/thai/pressandspeeches/press/news2554/n5854e.pdf https://www.bot.or.th/English/AboutBOT/LawsAndRegulations/Pages/default.aspx
blackcab Posted June 26, 2018 Posted June 26, 2018 There is a reason why you don't see any non bank owned ATMs in Thailand. Trust me, if it was possible then someone would have done it a long time ago.
james1995 Posted June 30, 2018 Author Posted June 30, 2018 Thanx for the advice. I'm currently running another legit business which is far more profitable. It's like taking candy from babies! Wish I could tell you about it but i don't like competition.?
