A 30-strong patrol team at the Phu Luang Wildlife Sanctuary in Nakhon Ratchasima’s Pak Thong Chai district discovered a scene of illegal logging of Siamese Rosewood trees in the middle of the forest early on Sunday but all those involved had fled before they arrived.

A total of 35 logs were recaptured in the 2am operation and a source from the team said it was suspected the group must have had someone act as a lookout who then tipped the others to flee the scene, a forest behind Wat Makok in Tambon Takhob.

The logs were taken to the sanctuary’s office and Pak Thong Chai police were told to launch an investigation.

Team head Panyawat Supalak said that officials had launched more frequent patrols in the sanctuary following an initial probe that found some villagers had been hired by investors to cut down trees that they could then sell to local and foreign traders.

Besides working on the illegal logging suppression operation, the sanctuary also hoped to create a good understanding and awareness about forest conservation among community leaders and residents, Panyawat added.

Now the logs will be sold. Who will get the money?

I think they did a good job in preventing these loggers to cut down more trees. Had they waited another week, there might have been hundreds of logs to be found.

Read it again, then notice the laughing emoji, re-captured the logs, that in its self is laughable, but looks like that went over your head.

It did. Still I think they did a good work.
