It`s going to be; we need a rescue team, who we gonna call? That quote is from CyberFarang not Mattd - software shortfall! You think they want more work like this? It's not their job. They just happen to be world experts and willing to give up their time to help in rescues like this. They don't need the recognition having already been involved in other rescues around the world. One of them already has an MBE in recognition of his efforts. If you take notice of what the British Cave Rescue Council said. They won't even give the names of volunteers in order that they're not distracted from the job in hand. They would be quite happy if the need never arises again so they can keep cave-diving as their hobby. 2
Popular Post Odysseus123
Nobody rescues peoples for medals and baubles. They do so because they are either on the spot or because they come in preparing to use their recognized expertise. This expertise is usually freely given in the cause of humanity. They did well here-job well done. 2

For one it is not their job, but a hobby. Cave diving is one of the most dangerous forms of diving, often zero visibility and dangerous obstacles to navigate around. In my eyes anyone who risks their life in an attempt to save another life is a Hero. 2

No, I didn't think you did. It did however happen 14 years ago when the tsunami hit, much to Thailand's sham e and embarrassment. Perhaps Thailand has moved on and matured a wee bit? Not much hope of that ever happening with the officials Thailand usually have.

I would say no, in a hobby like theirs, same as with any high risk occupation there are strict guidelines you have to stay within to stay alive, if they were taking heroic risks then there odds on continuing their hobby would be pretty remote possibility, again it was a great team effort & kudos to them.

They are the world leaders in it, they push the boundaries and if there were guidelines they would have been written by people like this. Going blind into a cave system seemingly unexplored in flood conditions is not a risk to their lives????....... Another good one is to prevent unqualified drone hobbyists from crashing into the professionally operated drones, and the into general public. Popular Post Mansell
I have dived in the sea at night in February in Portsmouth Harbour with a current winding the two of us round in circles with no lights, couldn't see my hand in front of my face.....why? I was in the RN, and I didn't enjoy it. These guys were dealing with much worse conditions than I experienced, though it wasn't cold water for them. But extremely narrow passageways where they had to remove their air bottles to get through, muddy water and totally black, and a very strong flow of water pushing against them, not knowing what the next bend would bring, not knowing if they would suddenly be bumping into bodies.....not pleasant underwater. The few things these guys had going for them, they had supposedly been in this cave system some years ago,, but I doubt in the monsoon season, and they are both consummate professionals, though amateurs. People posting on here like it was just another day in the park for the divers are very ignorant, and saying it is no great shakes for them to do.....it's their jobs. Old English word...nincompoops all. This was extremely dangerous for all the divers involved......Navy Seals are not trained diving in caves, and especially in a flooding situation. I doubt there is anything comparable to these caves in Britain, and probably Europe. In my book these guys are the names right below the title heroes. They come in do the job, and then go home......no muss, no fuss. That is a hero. Well done lads. Job done, lives saved. Now let's win the World Cup.......again! 4
