Tesco Points card?

Hi All,

What is the story on the Tesco Points card. I have a "Tesco Card" on my keyring that I get scanned at checkout.
And as I buy TVs etc for my apartments, I must have a shitload of points, but can't make sense of what the info girl said at a Tesco.

Does anyone know how it all works?

Thanks,

NS

There is some Android/iOs app for the "Clubcard".

But the explanation video is in Thai only and I gave up.

Maybe someone can describe it in easy words?

Seems like the whole concept of physical cards is phased out.

BigC recently didn't give me a card anymore.

All bound to the mobile nr. that you show/tell at the cash point.

Same for TOPS.

Don't plan for your Hawaii vacation yet.

2 Baht gives one point.

1000 points worth 10 Baht.

0.5%!

Booze and smoke stuff (tobaccos) give no points.

ALSO: once I wanted to apply a BigC voucher on some electronic gadget.

"Can not". Food products only.

No idea whether it's the same at Tesco.

Same for MAKRO and HOME PRO, and GLOBAL House, no cards now. If you are registered with them (by name address and phone) just give the cashier at the POS the telephone number.

It is about (ultimately) collecting your purchasing data to target you with advertising. It may be for stuff you want - or it may be for stuff they think  you might want. Either way, your shopping habits become their marketing asset - alcohol, condoms, daipers, rash creams (thanks Barclays 555) and so on. Very cheap for them. Not necessarily dangerous as long as you believe the system remains benign in perpetuity. Personally I don't feel I need to save money at the atomic levels being explained above - so I prefer to keep my eating / drinking / whatever habits to myself. Your choice really.

You can get a real "1 Card" for TOPS/Robinsons/Central/Thai Watsadu etc if you join at one of their customer service desks in-store, but if you apply online you only get a "virtual membership".

I pretty much gave up on  member cards in Thailand.

I've no interest in prizes and I don't know of any card in the Kingdom that offers a cash back kind of reward.

Are there any cash back reward cards in the Kingdom?

The " 1 Card" from TOPS, Central, Robinsons,B2S, Powerbuy, etc gets you a discount coupon but not cash.

BigC you could always use the registered no. if you did not have your card. I recently (last couple of months) had 2 occasions where they gave me 40 or 50 baht discount off a few items (at the till) because presumably I had built up a level of points. The first time they asked for my passport no.

Boots card always seem to mean I pay less than the advertised price even for items on sale and I remember previously some Tops deals you could only get if you had the card.

My wife has a Big C card and often gets 30 or 40 baht taken off the bill at checkout.
