MBK is still pretty hit and miss but these tailors that have moved in there now have made it worse. So far MBK has been the most disappointing experience of my visit as it has not advanced at all whereas almost everything else I have seen has.

Yes, maybe stupid.

Never the less;

I suggest you improve your English to the extent that you know the difference between tailored clothes and made to measure clothes.

Then you can come back here and list all the tailor shops in BKK, doesn't take long - there are very few -  2 or 3 maybe.

Still talking out of your ass?  So sad.

I dont need to make a list. I know most of them personally, along with all the major suppliers. Keep trying to educate those that know more than you. ? It is hilarious.

OK I'll bite, for those of us not connected to clothing manufacture please explain the difference.

I believe the point that was made is that there is a difference between someone who makes a made to measure suit and the rip off joints that abound. The last suit I had made,  had 3  fittings; initial, 2nd was after cutting with pattern trace visible, and final to ensure proper sizing. It was done in Hong Kong by tailors who have been in the trade 3+generations. They do not use the cheap fabrics from India or China that supply the  tailor tout trade. For example, the  common cashmere  sourced from China often  are not pure cashmere and  will ball and shed lots of lint. Proper suits do not have cardboard  on the inside or have suit jackets that are too short as is typical of Thai tailor tout quality. A proper suit for the tropics is very light.

there are very few tailors left in the world

a handful or so  in London, UK there is one Stockholm, Sweden and a couple in New York, US and 1 or 2 in Bangkok

Why? Its just too expensive

All the shops, mostly run by Indians, that you find along Sukhumvit, for example, are made to measure shops

real tailors would rotate in their graves if they heard you refer to these shops as tailor shops

These shops take your measures, you agree the fabric, they cut the cloth and send cloth and measures  to some slaves that stitch up the resulting shirt/suit/blazer/pant or whatever

This is made to measure, many countries do this and the result can be pretty good if the shop is good and material is OK.

(beside the point but; the main challenge for the odd tourist or somebody who is not familiar with tailored quality clothes is the fabric

 in Thailand quality fabric is expensive!! import levy is significant!'

 most people know zilch about fabric and the Indian shop keepers take advantage of that, like selling quality cashmere suits for 10-20 000 baht

 which is just bogus - what people buy is a heap of plastic mixed with some wool

 a pure quality cashmere suit in Thailand would cost 120 000 baht at least. )

what do tailors do;

the tailor (ie the man that cut panels and do the stitching, measures you up,

discuss this and that, what you prefer/not prefer

he probably starts off drawing and cutting panels on paper

"dresses" you up in paper . see how it looks

when satisfied after the odd alteration or so proceeds to cut panels of cloth

stitching it up trying/fixing/altering until satisfied

all in the same shop .no sending off measures to slaves

No 3rd party involved

This is very expensive,, very, therefore mostly a thing of the past.

But the results are like a dream.

My bad, I forgot Hong Kong, have had some pretty decent clothes made in Hong Kong.

Not cheap - but good.

Most people don't know anything about fabric or stitching and think they can get a good suit for the same price as a few bottles of Whisky, you can't,

for people who are not familiar with fabrics and dont know how to assess plastic amount in fabric and do not know what quality stitching is;

buy your clothes off the rack in dept stores - quite OK clothes to an acceptabe price
