I had an electrician come around to install a new consumer unit,he insisted he can't put the earth on the earth bar but only to neutral bar but this caused the rcd to trip so i removed the earth from the neutral bar for now and all working,i have the model with a spd(surge protection) and worried this should go to earth only.Should i install to example pic 2 or 3 model is pic 1 sorry for the orientation thanks for any info.796283179_20180730_1111161.thumb.jpg.2e88c5dfe737c1c0a4e4057df14737c8.jpg1216065663_20180730_1110511.thumb.jpg.80525629c6eaf6ef1da4a9913ebd4aab.jpg218858559_20180730_1112151.thumb.jpg.94af9805304a5e823be5bd2b4600d473.jpg

Correct routing is:-

  • Incoming live to live input of the incomer.
  • Incoming neutral to the earth bar and then to the neutral input of the incomer.
  • Earth rod to the earth bar.

So, it looks like Piccie No.2 is what you want.

In this setup the SPD goes L to E (which is also N).
