More than 300 elderly and physically challenged locals in Khon Kaen province received more than they may have hoped for on Monday, as delivery of their state-provided monthly subsidies were accompanied by fun-filled performances.

“We have staged shows for the elderly and the physically challenged so as to add happiness to their life,” said Tambon Ban Kham Administrative Organisation’s president Chainarong Kanha.

He spoke as hundreds of elderly and physically challenged people enjoyed entertainment shows in front of the Phra That Khan Khon Kaen Temple in the province’s Nam Phong district. The shows included comedies, Mor Lam and singing.

Chainarong said similar entertainment shows were staged monthly in different villages throughout his area.

“We spread happiness among the elderly,” he said.

The subsidy for the elderly and the physically challenged is at least Bt600 a month.

I know a famous but nevertheless unsuccessful elderly and mentally challenged singer/songwriter. May I propose him for the next event?

Btw. I don't think he needs the 600 baht state-provided monthly subsidy.

Actually the elderly have been entitled to that money for many years now. I think it was implemented during yingluck time or even before that.

Although the free entertainment, to finally tell them is new.
