Spaniel Posted August 5, 2018 Posted August 5, 2018 My Thai wife and I will be visiting the USA on 7 September and returning on 28 October 2018. Her Thai passport expires on 6 March 2019. Will she need a new passport for this trip?
ubonjoe Posted August 5, 2018 Posted August 5, 2018 The normal requirement is 6 months for entry to the US but Thailand is one of the countries that are exempt from the requirement since it is member of the 6 month club. See: https://www.cbp.gov/sites/default/files/assets/documents/2017-Dec/Six-Month Club Update122017.pdf No problem for your wife to enter Thailand with less than 6 months remaining since a Thai can enter with a expired passport.
Spaniel Posted August 5, 2018 Author Posted August 5, 2018 When we depart Thailand on 7 Sept. her passport will be valid until 6 March 2019, about 6 months. So she wont have any problem entering the USA?
theoldgit Posted August 5, 2018 Posted August 5, 2018 For some nationalities the passport needs to be valid for six months after the intended length of stay.According to this website Thailand nationals only need passports that are valid throughout the intended length of stay.https://www.immihelp.com/visas/six-months-passport-validity-rule-visitors.htmlSent from my iPhone using Thaivisa Connect 1
