Hey guys, my daughter and her fiance are planning on spending   about 4 days in Chang Mai.   the 3rd week in Sept.

 

any  recommendations for    an owner  run hotel similar to the set up like  Summer breeze in Patong ( headed there with all the family the following weeks)

Assuming "$30" means 30 American dollars......990 Baht......when was the last time you were in Thailand? You don't get much for 990 Baht anymore. But, you can find a nice hotel for 1900 Baht. A quick look on Agoda maxed at THB 990 for week 3 of 09/2018 shows B2 Santitham, Sakulchai Place, "The Hop Inn"  (looks like a hospital?) and some hovels and other hostels - 95% of which I've never heard of.

You should look to drop 3000 baht at least.

1000 baht gets you a full basket of junk food at 7-11 these days. 

It ain't cheap here no more.

You should try to use Baht, not $, when asking prices!

Use Agoda app. plenty of hotels all over Thailand in your price range.

Right, but look at some of the ones that come up for THB 990 the 3rd week of September in C.M. Even increasing the budget to 1590 gets a huge variety more (with nice pools, etc.)

You can get a decent room at the Chiang Mai Gate Hotel for around B900.    They have a nice pool and a pretty good buffet breakfast is included.   Google the hotel for details,      Wife and I have stayed there many times.

So, one opinion beats the Agoda rating which is derived from the consensus of numerous guests from all around the world? Don't get me wrong, I'm not knocking the establishment mentioned above. I don't know anyone who has stayed there, so can't comment. But I would open my eyes a lot wider than one single recommendation.

I just booked in to Kate and Hasu Boutique, cost is 1890 baht... 

You can find rooms at the 1000 baht price point for sure, some very good ones too.

Just keep hunting around.

 

There are 149 properties on Booking.com with a price range up to 1900 baht, including swimming pool and breakfast...

Couldn't narrow it down to 1000 baht but there are lots, at least 50 places...

Was there twice ; last year and two years ago .

beautiful exterior swimming pool;

big breakfast free ;

sometimes many chinese clients, so go for breakfast early when the door is open ; 

I remember 6 a m

 

The hotel is at 100 meters of the road going to Doi Suthep;

if u have a car there is a free parking in front of the hotel.

 

 

The huge MAYA Complex is at about 500 meters on the same side of the road
