Intron A (interferon alfa-2b)

Featured Replies

I am looking for buying the medicine :

Intron A (interferon alfa-2b) injection.

Is this available in Thailand? I have a doctor's prescription. Please help.

Thank you.

Luke

Yes, it is available under brand name Bioferon. Does not require a prescription but may be a little hard to find.

If so, contact the distributor:

Berli Jucker Public Co Ltd:

99 Soi Rubia
Sukhumvit 42 Rd
Phrakanong, Klongtoey
P O Box 173 Bangkok 10110

Thank you for your reply, Sheryl.

I will be coming to Thailand. I understand that it is hard to find. Can I find it in hospitals? Or where else should I look for it?

Can I get it directly from the distributor?

Thank you.

Luke

You can ask the distributor for name of pharmacies they have supplied it to. You might be able to buy direct from the distributor if you are willung to buy in bulk e.g. 6 month supply or so.

Hospitals will certainly have it but there is a big mark up in price plus you'll have to see a doctor in the hospital first so doctor's fee on top of it. Bring with you a letter from your doctor with brief medical summary so that if it comes to that you at least don't have to tepeat lab tests etc to get the Dr. to prescribe it. Hospital pharmacies inly sell meds on prescription from a doctor at their hospital, even if the drug by law is OTC.

You can bring up to 30 day supply into the country with you when you come.

My friend took this medication for hep C. He went totally crazy. You would say something to him and it would take 20 seconds to answer. They took him off it and gave him something else that worked and was not so full on. Just saying take care because Thailand isn't the best place to not be in full control.
