Govt to perform cloud seeding in several provinces

 

 

BANGKOK, 4th September 2018 (NNT) - Farmers in 22 Chao Phraya River provinces have asked officials to perform cloud seeding operations, in order to replenish agricultural zones. 

Deputy Prime Minister General Chatchai Sarikalya, says that the current average water supply of the nation is quite low. He explained that recent heavy downpours were concentrated in certain areas, leaving many provinces short of water.

 

To address the issue, the Deputy Prime Minister has instructed the Department of Royal Rainmaking and Agricultural Aviation to perform Royal Rainmaking operations over these provinces, adding that the government will devise a water storage strategy for these drought-stricken zones. 

General Chatchai, who is a former Agriculture and Cooperatives Minister, added that there is no plan to release water from dams servicing the 22 provinces along the Chao Phraya River basin until after the harvest season.

 

He pointed out that this year, agriculturalists in these provinces are cooperating with the administration’s plan to use their farmland as water retention areas.

 

The flooded zones can then be used to farm fish, which, according to the feedback, yields better income than off-season rice farming.

Well I Can honestly say it " Pisses Down " Here every night around 10pm lasts through the night & Has Done EVERY Night for the past Month or So....Even the Mekong is at it's CRITICAL Level,Another Good downpour & It will burst it's banks !!

just need to wait to see if it rains in the chao phraya river provinces now

Hahahaha are they having a laugh or something , this place gets better by the day sometimes .. Still if Royal Rainmaking operations fail to perform they can always try the old American trick of a rain dance to try and bring about a bit of the wet stuff ..

The entire nation doesn't get flooded and never at the same time. Some regions Flood before or after others, but never the whole nation.

I remember back in the mid 80's hearing about a proposal by HRH#9 for a national irrigation system whereby pipes / klongs would carry water around the country as required to stop the drought/flood situation. The government formed a committee, led by Prem as I recall.  Strangely, nothing happened after that. Most odd.

 

I wonder what could have occurred?
