Ban Tha Kwai School in Nakhon Ratchasima's Pimai district has only two teachers for its 38 children, who range from preschool to year 6.

Chanmanee Rakrai, 25, and Paweena Wongnusa, 27, say they are determined to do their best to teach their pupils to be good and able citizens.

"I'm happy that I can teach rural children at this school, which has the fewest pupils in the province. I'm determined to teach everyone to have the knowledge and ability to continue their education to secondary level, even though we have to take turns to cover all the year groups," said Chanmanee.

The Primary Educational Service for the province appointed only two teachers because of the small intake.

The school has eight preschoolers, four year 1, eight year 2, seven year 3, six year 5 and five year 6 children.

Seems like a better student to teacher ration that many of the schools I'm familiar with.  And until the advent of assembly-line indoctrination centers that pass for modern eduction were implemented, school-houses with 36 students and 2 teachers were the norm in small communities and the kids got a better education than most.  So - what's the problem?

I don't thnk it is the number of students that present a problem. It is the different Grade Levels they have to teach, from pre-school to Grade 6. So you have to split them up into each Grade and with only 2 Teachers, it becomes more difficult.

I suspect it won't be long before they close these smaller schools down and start busing the kids to a larger school. My Father in Canada started in a Small Farm School House to, but now they are long gone.

It just shows where the governments priorities are.!!

I think you'll find education is a low priority on an international scale.?
