Miss the workshop you had back home?

MHOE in Ari has all the tools (table saw, ribbon saw, table router, planer, sander, laser cutter, 3d printer, etc...) at reasonable rates. Great coffee, food and beer (for after you are done with your work of course).

Is this place for DIY or can you pay employee's to do the work for you?

If they have good cnc routers i might have some jobs for them.

Can they speak good english?

This is a DIY place pretty much like a MakerSpace but the staff will be more than happy to help for complex jobs (no extra charge). The young lady on the pic is staff and she is an excellent cabinetmaker. She always comes up with good ideas when I get stuck. She speaks a bit of English but she is pretty sharp so no long explanations are required. Khun F is the manager and he is fluent in English. His number is : 09 5929 5925.

They do not have a CNC machine on-site but they have a partner company for CNC work.

and they have steel available? also stainless and 316? in various thicknesses?

Nope. Mostly woodworking + whatever the laser cutter can handle. I have used this company in the past for metal cutting: https://www.cutting-edge-group.com/ics-company. Not the cheapest but they are pros.

yes, 316 is marine grade

304 is ordinary stainless

the terms 304 and 316 are widely used and understood in LoS

I have used a handful or so different shops, they do understand proper drawings

English has been from so so to fairly good

really depends on what you want them to do

Do you have a website or something where i can see prices of 316? Is that expensive in Los?

Well i want them to make some things for me, for myself but i'm also very sure i can easy sell them outside thailand but i'm not allowed to work and won't try it in any way.

I just see loads of chances for products which require exact measurements to make them western standard. Only the cnc-machines can work precise in TH so let them do it.

I asked one big weldingshop to make some samples for me but they couldn't be bothered. I gave them drawings and they never called back. Well also the guy to make my carport for 100k baht didn't even show up at our appointment, that's just how they are so i'm searching for a reliable one.

Thanks for sharing, just not sure how you could be working inside here on a tourist visa even though the project would be for yourself?

Well,

I'm totally impressed with the accuracy and the quality of the work they can do with simple tools.

Laser + drill press + plate bender and some brains goes a long way

two "shops" where I have bought;

inside chiang gong (scrapyard for cars/engines) LakSi there is a shop selling steel, 304, 316 and aluminium

the chiang gong is at the SE corner of the big intersection where Chaeng Wattana starts

Lee&Steel at Wong Wien Odeon

when you have found WWO (taxis know) locate the 7/11 and start there,

walk on the pavements around WWO with the Chinese sculpture on your right

almost halfway around WWO there is on the corner a huge shop selling high pressure valves etc

walk down the small soi, last shop on the left hand side is Lee & Steel

(this is a mega company but they sell small bits and pieces also)

also know some shops by Srinagarin and in Prawet - far away
