Hit And Run Resulting In Death

Took this from the postbag in todays B.Post 11-01-2007

Quote :-

Murder on the road

At 11 p.m. on Pattaya Klang a driver did not give two hoots for a man crossing the road and now he is dead - murdered by a driver who did not brake or stop. To the people who came to view and laughed made me sick.

The driver must be found. Paint particles on the body must show the make and year of vehicle involved.

If Thailand is to become a respected country in the modern world it must update its ability to bring to justice drivers, robbers and thieves who abuse a system of modern justice.

SHOCKED

Unquote.

Please edit the last bit out if letters are not considered free information.

Ayone heard about this and if so any further details please as you never know who it may be ?

I scrolled the Pattaya forum but couldn,t locate a reference.

Thanks

I have no recollection of this happening, I am sure that a pedestrian road death would have been reported in the local newspapers.

Perhaps the victim lived and was injured and the letter writer was exaggerating the event(s) due to his anger.

Hit and run is so common here I doubt any English language newspaper would bother to write about it unless a foreigner was involved.

I've never been able to understand why they don't only accept it but practically expect it. No additional punishment is ever applied for people running away from accidents, if anything they get a lower sentence because they were so devastated by the accident that they had to run away. Buh huh.

an older lady used to be friendly with in soi13 pattaya was knocked of her stationary motorcycle and dragged down soi 13 suffering cuts and bruising to her head and feet.

She was in work next day and and told me why she was so bandaged etc.

I asked if the picup truck driver that knocked her off had stopped. She said he had not.

I asked if she had got his registration number----She had and even knew who was driving.

I asked if she had reported him to the police.

No she had not! She has instead reported him to her sons who she smilingly told me would hurt him far worse than he had hurt her.

Thanks for the replies, I guess it will remain a mystery.

I reckon it would have already been public information and posted on this forum had it been a fatality, which was the way i was inclined to think when i read it.

Libya 115 is usually on the ball with local incidents and happenings and hadn,t posted about it either.
