Just bought an old Camry from a Thai friend. Its a MY 2000.  I know the history of this car because he's had owned it many years and really taken care of it.

Any recommendations for a good non-franchise Toyota repairer in Pattaya/Jomtien?  Also, for an automotive locksmith who can supply a remote keyfob and key for this car?

I used a shop called Locksmith Pattaya to make a remote keyfob, quite good and the price OK.

Here the GPS coordinates : 12.9079638,100.8840672

The phone number is 086 699 6628

I recommend Khun Adithep, he speaks OK English (but his staff don't and he is not always at his shop) so might be worth calling first, you can also add his number in LINE and chat to him there

Transam

It was for a Toyota Altis.

I do not remember what I paid exactly but it was around 2 500 bahts. The Toyota dealer asked me around 12 000 bahts !!!!!

I went to Pattaya Locksmith as mentioned in post #2.  They are also known as 'Big Key'.

They made up a key using a genuine Toyota blank and coded up an immobiliser chip. Cost was THB1800.  The dealer wanted more than double that. They also cut me some other household keys at reasonable cost - and they actually work! Good shop.

I contacted Khun Adithep (recommended in post #4).  Basically he wasn't interested in repairing my car - I think maybe the work was too minor for him (changing coolant, new aux belt).  In the end I took the car to 'Sak Service' a small repairer on Threppasit.  Not a great experience to be honest and cost more than it should have done..... The new belt was slack and squealing like mad - so I ended up tightening it myself.

I need a few suspension bits changing so I'm now going to try Khun Sakda who's had good mentions before on TV.
