toenail
Why walk around with your passport? Keep it in the hotel safe or room and carry a copy with you instead.

So you can 'lose' it and be compensated for your loss by the 'finder'.
Tony M
I think that some are "lost", and some are sold by the passport holders. The Malaysian passport is a passport of choice for people smugglers. They can be used by several nationalities, Indians, Sri Lankans, Chinese, etc, to travel to, or possibly enter, some countries visa - free, including the UK. Some will be forged, and some will be used "as is" if the photo in the passport resembles the person who wants to travel. In fact, the passport only needs to allow the holder to get on a flight to their country of choice, and the passport is then destroyed while on the flight, or handed over to a facilitator who is also traveling. The "holder" then arrives in wherever, and claims to be a refugee with no passport.
tifino
the only downfall, yet at the same time a good way to detect one; is if a faker user used it to enter Israel - and then later tried to access a muslim country! i.e a Malaysian cannot use his Malaysian Passport to go (or even transit) Israel, as he'd be detained upon return to Malaysia.
