Soon we’ll all have to buy the ‘real’ branded items as the fakes are getting more difficult to find. The authorities and vendors continue to play a cat and mouse game in the ‘intellectual property’ crackdown.

Officers yesterday raided another market in Patong and seized more than 4,000 counterfeit goods valued more than a million baht.

A team of officers from the Economic Crime Suppression Division (ECD) joined the raid at the Patong OTOP Shopping Paradise market.

Ah, the merry-go-round continues...……….the vendors get raided and their stock confiscated by the BIB, all the while the importer of these items brings more into the country and pays off customs and BIB to the tune of 1 million baht pa (I know, he told me).

He then has to resupply the outlets thereby ensuring continued business.

Guess someone failed to pay their weekly benevolent fund  'donation'

Do what we say, and you will be invisible

Almost makes me think there may be a little collusion between the BiB and the importer. BiB get brownie points (and what happens to the seized stock, never see it burn?) and the importer gets to resupply (or maybe buys the seized stock back to sell again).
