When to arrive for an international departure?

Featured Replies

Here is what AirAsia said in a recent email:

There is no change in your flight date and time. However, you will be required to check-in again via airasia.com or mobile app and print out your new boarding pass.

You are advised to be at the airport at the airport 4 hours before the departure time to avoid any delays at check-in. Should you have any further queries, please do not hesitate to contact our customer support.

We apologize for any inconvenience caused and thank you for flying AirAsia. Please disregard this email if changes have been made.

that's a new one, normally 2 hours domestic/3 hours international

are you flying to/via an Islamic country?

Perhaps this is airasia trying to ensure their passengers get to passport a bit earlier and avoid being still at passport when it's close to departure time.

Going to Maldives, so is Islamic.  Will be in the AirAsia check-in line at DMK about 2.5 to 2.0 before departure.

I fly that route monthly.

It's because of the thousands of Chinese that mob DMK and delays are caused, but I've not experienced any on the MLE route.

2.5 hours before is fine. You cannot check in online for the flight so go to the self check-in machines and print your boarding pass before going to the counters.
