Govt implores youth to use their skills constructively

Thammarat Thadaphrom

BANGKOK, 27th October 2018 (NNT) – The Thai government has pleaded with the young generation to use their skills in a way that benefits the nation.

In response to a rap song uploaded on YouTube, Government Spokesperson Puttipong Punnakanta expressed his disappointment with the young rappers who used their abilities to defame the nation. He claimed the song’s content could undermine national security, cause public panic, and lead to loss of confidence among investors.

He added the person who uploaded the video has already been identified.

In the meantime, Royal Thai Police deputy commissioner Pol Gen Srivara Rangsibrahmanakul says he has already seen the 5-minute clip but whether or not its content violates orders of the National Council for Peace and Order will have to be determined.

Uploaded on Monday, the video shows young rappers talking about political and social issues surrounding the current administration. It has garnered more than 5 million views and almost 260,000 likes.

So is he the one to decide that?

Majority of 'Youth' i see in Thailand are 'using their skills' to press buttons on mobile devices, doing selfies, open beer cans with one finger or use tweezers at the local cheapo 'Moo Ga Ta' joint to get as much on their plate as possible.   They then get back on their noisy Motorbikes with no Exhaust Baffles and wake up the entire area on the way to 7 for more beer cans.

Don't think any of the above 'skills' will be 'Benefiting the Nation'  !

It does not take much to upset the Government,Rap song= national security issues,

Did the US government, make the same claims when Bob Dylan come out with

"The times they are a changin".

You defame the NCPO - you defame the nation.

There is no distinguishing between the two - the junta is the nation regardless of Thai People who are led by the Constitution to believe that THEY are the nation.

Here we see the blame for loss of tourists placed on rap songs, if this turns around and the rappers earn a revenue , Prayut will be break dancing with his homies in a photo opp.

If he was my father, I would have left home the day I started to walk.

I once saw a group of 6 or 8 Thai students in a pizza place. They had obviously just paid for one salad which gave you a small bowl to fill yourselves at the salad bar. They managed to construct a foot tall tower of salad rising from the 6 inch bowl. Quite an engineering feat! I was impressed.

Who says Thai students cannot be constructive when they want to.
