Terminal 21 Food Court Computers Crash

Featured Replies

At about 6:50-7pm Friday November 2, 2018, Pattaya Terminal 21 food court computers crashed and nobody could get a refund of their food court cash card balance. Consequently hundreds of people have cash remaining on their cards, much of which will never get used, within the 30 day validity period.

Is this a new scam in Thailand to rip-off food court patrons?

Holy moly!!! Get Big Joke on the case.

The people who really wanted a refund on their card couldn't wait 10 minutes?

100's of people trying to get refunds in a 10 minute window?  Maybe it's me but that number seems unrealistic.

.

T21 food court Asoke started out great, but was amazed at how the portions have shrunk on the duck and smoothies.  Almost no fruit in the smoothies, usually frozen, and the duck portion is down to about 40 grams.

Even with free rent the business has to buy ingredients and pay wages etc. @ 35 baht per plate there is not much room to squeeze a profit except smaller portions.

Management would not give a definitive time estimate has to how long it would take for the computers to return to service. Their response was "wait - I don't know". Lots of people got screwed out of their money, because they had to leave within the blackout period, and won't be returning within 30 days. I waited 20 minutes and nobody was getting a refund in that 20 minutes. It was longer than 20 minutes to get the computers working again - and of course the longer it took, the more money terminal 21 gets to keep,

People don't have time to wait around to get their money, especially tour groups and most other patrons, they have planned activities.  Most want to eat and move onto their next activity. It shouldn't take any longer to obtain  a cash card than it does to get a refund. To purchase a card card took less than a minute.

of course not, but it was a good scheme to create foot traffic in a pretty useless mall.  Photo is four years ago...was outstanding..nothing like that now.

If the computers have crashed new cash cards can also not be issued during that time. Can you imagine how much money T21 LOST during that time?

They allowed the individual food vendors to accept cash. The food vendors didn't lose, only terminal 21 lost their cut of the new sales during the blackout.

There would have been a riot by the Thai food vendors, their booths full of food, and hungry patrons, against terminal 21 management, if all transactions were denied by Terminal 21 management.

It happened at Tesco the other week...they handed out paper coupons...like the "old days"

ok that makes more sense but I was just responding to OP's original post indicating computer was only down for 10 minutes.

No big deal , you have 30 days to return to T21 , surely you're coming back within 30 days unless you live in a remote part of Isaan.

FYI I tried to load up my card and was told max on card is 500 baht.
