‘Shark in bag’ wasn’t found at Maya Bay

In reaction to the story circulating about the ‘dead blacktip reef shark found dead in a sack’, a Phi Phi diver has contacted us with the following information….

I posted the original photo of the shark in a rice sack that was found by one of my instructors on Sunday, November 4.

Your story incorrectly states that the shark was found at Maya Bay, it was not, it was found at a dive site called Malong which is on the west coast of Phi Phi Ley.

Now there's a debate about which part of Thai waters the bag was found. Does it really matter when the bag itself seems to have originated in Thailand to be part of the garbage stream coming from the fifth largest sea polluter in the world.

Maybe thaivisa should change it's name to Thai daily rumours.we seem to be fed with such poorly informed stories it makes The Sun newspaper read like a bible of truth.

When was the last time The Sun voluntarily published a correction?
